What this is
AboutUs was a wiki where people and companies described their own websites, from 2006 to 2014. For domains that are also among the million most visited sites today, we put that old description next to what the site looks like now, and say whether it is still the same organisation, was renamed, moved into a different line of business, or was taken over by someone unrelated.
How it works
The facts — when the domain was registered, whether it was registered again after AboutUs first saw it, its popularity rank — are measured. The judgments (same or changed, what it is now, whether anyone looks after it) come from an AI model, TypeSafe’s Jev, reading the old record and today’s front page. Each one is dated and carries how sure the model was. We only quote the old description when today’s site still matches it.
Limits
The judgments are likely, not verified. Most domains have no card: one exists only when the domain is in the top million and had an AboutUs page. A domain with no card gets a live check of what it is today instead, with no “then”. For a full look at any domain, use the domain report.
