MX records for Google Workspace

MX records tell the world where mail for your domain gets delivered. These are Google Workspace's records — publish them at your DNS provider (not at Google Workspace).

The records

MX · Host @ · smtp.google.com · Priority 1One record is the current setup. Domains configured before 2023 may still use the legacy aspmx.l.google.com set — Google says that remains supported; no change needed if mail works.

Steps

  1. At your DNS provider, add an MX record: host @, value smtp.google.com, priority 1 (TTL: your provider's default, or 1 hour).
  2. Remove every other MX record — Google: "Your email might not work correctly if you keep old or incorrect MX records."

Gotchas

  • ⚠Set up all mailboxes in Google Workspace BEFORE switching MX, or incoming mail bounces.
